Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 18, 2026 · Effective immediately
Core Privacy Architecture: PDF Merger operates entirely client-side inside your web browser. When you select, convert, compress, or merge files, your documents are processed strictly in your local device memory. No files, document contents, or personal files are ever uploaded, transmitted to, or stored on any server.
Section 01
Client-Side File Processing & Data Security
Traditional online file utilities transfer your private files to remote cloud servers to process them. PDF Merger is designed with an opposite, privacy-first architecture:
- Local Execution: All document parsing, rendering, text rasterization, and PDF/DOCX compilation are executed locally on your machine using modern web standards (HTML5 Web APIs, Canvas, Web Workers, and WebAssembly).
- Zero Server Uploads: Your documents (PDFs, Word .docx/.doc files, images) never leave your device. Our web servers never receive, inspect, or retain your documents.
- Session Isolation: Once you close the browser tab or refresh the page, all file data held in volatile browser memory is immediately purged by your browser's garbage collector.
Section 02
Google AdSense & Advertising Disclosures
To support the free operation and maintenance of this website, we display advertisements provided by Google AdSense. Because Google provides these advertising services, Google's advertising policies require us to inform you of the following:
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this website or other websites on the internet.
- Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to users based on their visits to this site and/or other sites across the web.
- These cookies allow ad networks to provide frequency capping, fraud prevention, aggregate reporting, and—where consented—personalized advertisements.
- Crucial Distinction: Google AdSense does not have access to, and cannot read, any documents or files you process within PDF Merger. Advertising scripts operate independently of local file memory.
Opting Out of Personalized Advertising:
Users may opt out of personalized advertising by managing their preferences directly:
Opting out of personalized advertising does not mean you will see no ads; it means the ads displayed will be non-personalized (contextual rather than based on past browsing history).
Section 03
Cookies and Tracking Technologies
A cookie is a small text file stored on your device by your web browser.
- First-Party Cookies: PDF Merger does not set first-party tracking cookies, user profiling cookies, or persistent authentication cookies.
- Third-Party Cookies: Third-party partners (primarily Google for AdSense) may set cookies or web beacons to serve ads and evaluate traffic metrics in accordance with their privacy policies.
You can instruct your browser, through its settings, to refuse all cookies or to indicate when a cookie is being sent. Most modern browsers also support private browsing (Incognito) modes that automatically delete cookies when the session ends.
Section 04
Log Files and Infrastructure Data
Like virtually all websites hosted on modern web infrastructure (such as GitHub Pages or content delivery networks), basic web server log files are generated when you request web pages. These logs may include:
- Internet Protocol (IP) addresses (often masked or aggregated);
- Browser type, operating system, and language preferences;
- Referring URLs and timestamps of page requests.
This data is used solely for technical site delivery, bandwidth monitoring, DDoS defense, and ensuring system stability. It is never combined with document contents or personal identities.
Section 05
Content Delivery Networks (CDNs) & Open-Source Libraries
To deliver fast load times, this site loads open-source JavaScript libraries (such as PDF-lib, PDF.js, Mammoth, and JSZip) and web typography through public Content Delivery Networks (including jsDelivr and Google Fonts).
When your browser fetches these static script files, the CDN servers receive your standard HTTP request headers (IP address and user agent). These CDNs operate under their respective privacy policies and serve only static scripts—they never receive or process your local document files.
Section 06
Children's Online Privacy Protection
PDF Merger is a general-purpose utility and is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect, request, or maintain personally identifiable information from children under 13 years of age, in compliance with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).
Section 07
Your Rights & Data Subject Requests
Because we do not store, catalog, or transmit your files, personal identification, or accounts on our servers:
- There is no central database containing your files or documents;
- We cannot inspect, modify, recover, or disclose any files you process;
- There is no personal profile for us to delete upon request, as we never collect one.
You maintain complete ownership and unilateral control over your files at all times on your local machine.
Section 08
